This past weekend musical play writer Robert Gould brought his “Little House on the Ferry” to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Set in Fire Island and in the year 2011 just before New York voted and passed marriage equality.
Little House on the Ferry is the Little Music Comedy that can provide a good night out and remind us all how quick things are moving for LGBT rights.
The cast is mish mash of characters that are led by Randal who sometimes comes off excited when following the breaking news out of Albany and other times whiney and annoying. Luckily for the play the likeable and somewhat feminine home owner Donnie is hilarious and sharp tongued and brings enough laughs. The three woman that are supporting rolls and for the most part nameless really shine with their goofy male muscle costumes and silly but lovable songs.
Over all rating: B-
